LAKEWOOD — A township resident is facing multiple arson charges after investigators concluded he deliberately set a series of fires, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said Israel Salgado-Miron, 39, was charged with aggravated arson and two additional arson counts stemming from incidents reported on November 29.

Emergency crews were first dispatched around 10:30 p.m. to East Eighth Street, where a small fire was discovered burning in the window well of a home’s basement. While firefighters were handling that blaze, two more fires were spotted along railroad tracks in the same area. All were extinguished without injuries.

An investigation by county and local agencies determined each fire had been intentionally set — the house fire with an open flame applied to combustible materials, and the brush fires using an ignitable fuel source.

Detectives later identified Salgado-Miron as the suspect. He was arrested on November 30 and taken to the Ocean County Jail, where he awaits a detention hearing.

Billhimer praised the coordinated response and investigative work of multiple county and Lakewood agencies involved in the case.
