Man Will Remain In Jail After Murder

  FREEHOLD – The Lakewood man charged with the murder of another township man in Howell last month has agreed to remain in jail awaiting trial.

  Omar Rivera Rojas, also known as Juan Carlos Rivera Rojas, 29, of Lakewood, consented during an appearance before Superior Court Judge Paul X. Escandon to remain in the Monmouth County jail without bail to await trial in the murder of 33-year old Domingo Merino Rafael, also of Lakewood.

  On Oct. 18, Rivera Rojas repeatedly stabbed Merino Rafael in the head following an argument, according to police. Police discovered Merino Rafael’s body face-down on Route 547 in Howell at around 4 a.m.
