LAKEWOOD — Detective Sergeant John Marshall #208 has retired from the Lakewood Police Department after 42½ years of service to the community.
Marshall’s career included time on patrol, leadership in the Detective Bureau and many years in the Internal Affairs Bureau, where he helped uphold standards of accountability and professionalism within the agency. Department officials said he played a role in countless investigations, mentored generations of officers and helped shape the department.
Marshall followed a family tradition in law enforcement. His father, the late Deputy Chief Marshall, also served the community.
Chief Meyer, who worked with Marshall for more than 42 years, called him a trusted partner, mentor and friend.
“His knowledge, work ethic, and dedication to this department are unmatched,” Meyer said. “His presence will be deeply missed, but his impact will be felt for years to come.”
The department thanked Marshall for his decades of service and wished him health, happiness and time with his family in retirement.
