Jersey Shore Deals With Power Problems Following Winter Storm

OCEAN COUNTY – More than one thousand homes are without power Friday morning after a nor’easter that brought snow, heavy rains and winds pounded the area Thursday.

First Energy, the parent company of Jersey Central Power and Light, is reporting a total of 1,011 confirmed and suspected outages throughout the county as of 9:30 a.m. Outage updates are provided every 15 minutes at

Currently, there are about 8,300 outages throughout the state, with the most in Monmouth County, with 4,570 customers confirmed or suspected to be without power. JCP&L provides power to 13 New Jersey counties.

First Energy said power should be restored by 1 p.m. to most areas.
