OCEAN COUNTY – “The ranges are alive with the sound of mortars!”
So spoke the press release from Ocean Township letting residents know that there will be demolition and mortar training at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst from Dec. 6 through Dec. 10 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The training mission will cause sounds of explosions to carry to surrounding areas, and the press release reminded people that cloudy conditions makes the sound travel and makes it seem like the explosions are louder or closer than they really are.
