OCEAN COUNTY – A 9-year-old boy was killed in a car crash on the Garden State Parkway Saturday night, according to the New Jersey State Police.
Police confirmed that a Volkswagen Passat was heading south near the exit 89A entrance ramp in Lakewood when it left the roadway and overturned.
Jake Olivos of Beachwood was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene from his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The cause of the accident is now under investigation.
