LAKEWOOD – The Brick Children’s Community Theatre will present The Lion King Jr., a 90-minute musical adapted from the original Broadway hit, at the Strand Theatre on 400 Clifton Ave.

The musical will be performed on March 31 at 7:30 p.m., April 1 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. and April 2 at 2 p.m.

Brick residents Robert DiGrigoli and Anthony Zarrilli have designed and constructed the animal puppets for the iconic opening scene Circle of Life, where the animals of the Pride Lands are summoned by Rafiki to baby Simba’s royal presentation. The Strand stage will be filled with two larger than life elephants, high-rise giraffes, three rhinos, four zebras, four leopards, 18 antelope, a pride of lions and an amazingly talented cast of young people.

Both DiGrigoli and Zarrilli make it their business to give back to their community by donating their time and talent to the Brick Children’s Community Theatre. Digrigoli and his wife Kathy have generously awarded almost $20,000 in performing arts education scholarships to children ages five to 18 over the past several years.

Tickets are $12 for children under 12 and $15 for adults, plus a $1.50 service fee per ticket. Tickets can be purchased online at bcct.booktix.com.
