LAKEWOOD – A two-vehicle accident with an armored Brinks truck left the driver trapped inside.
The accident happened on Route 9 in Lakewood near the Howell border on Monday morning. The Brinks truck collided with a white sedan, which caused the truck to crash into a utility pole then overturn on its side. The incident left the driver of the truck trapped in the vehicle.
EMS arrived to the scene and according to police, the driver was removed from the vehicle and transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus for his injuries. The condition of the other driver involved in the accident was not released.
A pole and numerous wires were taken down due to the accident and knocked out the power in the area.
Traffic was halted in the area and caused tie ups for much of the day while the scene was cleaned up. The cause of the crash is under probe.
