NEW JERSEY – Travelers who were at Newark Liberty International Airport 5 p.m. May 29 to 3:30 p.m. May 30 may have been exposed to measles, the New Jersey Department of Health has confirmed.

An infected international traveler arrived at Terminal B from Tokyo, Japan, and departed for Quebec, Canada from Terminal A, May 29.

Symptoms can develop as late as June 20.

Department of Health officials said New Jersey residents potentially exposed will be contacted by their local health departments.

Anyone who suspects exposure should make arrangements with their primary care provider to seek treatment without infecting anyone else.

A document with information on what to do if you’ve been exposed to measles is available on the Department of Health website.
