Children’s Medicine Recall: Important Information

An Asheville, North Carolina homeopathic company is voluntarily recalling 32 of its children’s products after some tested positive for microbial contamination.

King Bio, the company behind the Dr. King brand, is recalling products produced between Aug. 1, 2017 and April 2018, and distributed nationwide August 2017 to July 2018. The full list of products and lot numbers can be found here.

“Administration or use of drug products with microbial contamination, could potentially result in increased infections that may require medical intervention, and could result in infections that could be life threatening to certain individuals,” the Aug. 22 King Bio press release said. “King Bio has not received reports of injury or illness to date.”

Anyone who believes they’ve had an adverse reaction using any of the recalled products should visit their family physician, and then report that to the FDA. Forms can be downloaded at fda.gov/MedWatch/getforms.htm or by calling 800-332-1088.

The company is alerting its distributors and customers by letter and is arranging for returns or replacements of all recalled products. Anyone with a recalled product should contact King Bio at recall@kingbio.com for instructions on how to return products.
