Suspect Arrested After Woman Shot And Killed In Freehold

FREEHOLD – Authorities have identified the man they suspect shot and killed a young mother late Thursday night.

Kader Mustafa, 36, of Freehold, was charged with murder, attempted murder, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed late Friday afternoon.

Mustafa is accused of shooting at a blue 1997 Mazda Protégé and killing 24-year-old Sciasia Callhoun, also of Freehold. She was traveling on Route 33 East and Halls Mill Road late Thursday night.

Her boyfriend and one-year-old son, whose names have not been released by authorities, were unharmed.

Callhoun was taken to CentraState Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries at 12:46 a.m. Friday.

Mustafa, driving a white 2005 Chevy Impala, was apprehended in Manalapan near Oakland Mills Road at 8:10 a.m. while inside his vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
