Ocean Man Maintains Innocence At Court Hearing

FREEHOLD – The man now accused of setting his own house on fire, as well as killing his brother’s family and torching their Colts Neck home had his attorney enter not guilty pleas in court Friday.

Paul Caneiro, 51, of Ocean Township, maintained his innocence through his attorney Robert A. Honecker Jr.

Caneiro waived his right to a detention hearing and will remain in jail. Superior Court Judge James McGann scheduled the pre-indictment conference for Jan. 30.

Canerio is charged with four counts of murder, possession of a firearm and knife for unlawful purposes, and two counts of aggravated arson. He’s accused of killing his brother Keith, 50, sister-in-law Jennifer, 45, nephew Jesse, 11, and niece Sophia, 8.
