Ocean County Man Dies In Early Morning Crash

  HOWELL – A 30-year-old man is dead after being hit by a car early this morning on Route 9, police said.

  The incident occurred around 1:55 a.m. between Alexander Avenue and Ford Road. According to police, the 30-year-old pedestrian from Lakewood was walking south on Route 9 when he was hit by a car driven by a 53-year-old Deal resident.

  First responders performed lifesaving measures on the man however he sustained a traumatic injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

  The driver did not sustain any injuries from the crash and remained on scene, cooperating with the investigation. No summonses have been issued at this time, police said.

  Currently, the crash remains under investigation by the Howell Township Police Department, the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).
