FREEHOLD – A New York man has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl at a Neptune motel, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced.
David Leigh, 35, of Auburn, New York, received the sentence Friday from Superior Court Judge Natalie S. Watson. He must serve at least five years before becoming eligible for parole. Leigh will also be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and remain under Parole Supervision for Life.
Authorities said Leigh met the victim through social media and arranged to meet her in April 2023 at a Neptune motel, where the assault occurred. Investigators determined the victim had disclosed her age to Leigh prior to the encounter.
Leigh was arrested in January 2024, and a Monmouth County grand jury indicted him two months later. Following a weeklong trial, jurors deliberated for two hours before finding him guilty on June 26, 2025.
Prosecutors Sarah M. Mielke and Christopher Ammon handled the case for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. Leigh was represented by attorney George J. Mardinly.
