FREEHOLD – A man who sexually assaulted an unconscious woman was sentenced to 15 years in prison last Thursday.
Isrrael Cordero, 47, of Long Branch, was sentenced in the March 2017 attack of that woman. He will have to serve 12 years, 9 months before becoming eligible for parole, and will have to register under Megan’s Law and have parole supervision for life.
He was found guilty in September of two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.
Surveillance video from a bar/restaurant in Long Branch showed the entire sexual assault Cordero committed against the unconscious and physically helpless woman the morning of March 3, 2017, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said. He knew the woman.
