FREEHOLD – A Freehold Township High School teacher is facing sexual assault and child endangerment charges after investigators alleged he had a sexual relationship with an underage student, authorities said Tuesday.
Jesse L. Heubel, 37, of Englishtown, was charged with offenses connected to alleged sexual activity in Freehold Township, Englishtown, Manalapan Township and Red Bank, according to Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Julia Alonso.
In Freehold Township, Heubel was charged with one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of second-degree sexual assault.
He was also charged with one count each of second-degree endangering and second-degree sexual assault in Englishtown, Manalapan and Red Bank. Prosecutors said the charges were filed in several municipalities because the alleged encounters occurred in different locations.
An investigation conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Bureau and police in Freehold Township and Manalapan determined that the alleged conduct began in November 2025, authorities said.
Investigators allege Heubel engaged in sexual acts with a student who was younger than 18.
Heubel surrendered to authorities and was taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution while awaiting proceedings in Superior Court.
Anyone with information about the case or Heubel’s activities is asked to contact Prosecutor’s Office Detective Julio Casso at 732-431-7160, ext. 2220, or Freehold Township police Detective Tyler Whelan at 732-462-7908.
Assistant Prosecutor Sevan Biramian of the Special Victims Bureau is handling the case. Heubel is represented by the Law Offices of Jonathan F. Marshall.
The charges are accusations. Heubel is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
