WHITING — Firefighters quickly knocked down a utility terrain vehicle fire on Congsia Road, preventing the flames from spreading into nearby brush, officials said.
Whiting Fire Company Station 33 was dispatched to the scene at about 8:41 p.m. on January 7. Chief 3300 arrived first and confirmed a single UTV was on fire, with all occupants safely out of the vehicle.

Engines 3301 and 3311 arrived soon after and stretched a 1¾-inch attack line, bringing the fire under control and stopping it from extending into surrounding wooded areas. Assistant Chief 3310 also responded, along with Whiting Fire Police operating utility units 3327 and 3337.
Once the fire was extinguished and the area secured, the scene was turned over to Manchester police for further investigation.
No injuries were reported.
