MANCHESTER– The new school year has arrived and the district got some help collecting materials for kids – whether they came from soldiers, a restaurant, or other parts of the community.

School officials offered immense thanks to their partners at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Members of the military collected and dropped off several boxes of school supplies.

“Their continued support of our students and our schools make a meaningful difference, and the Manchester Township School District is so grateful for this wonderful partnership,” officials said.

Manchester Township Elementary School also benefited from a donation by the Leisure Village West Pickleball Club. This senior development has a positive relationship with the school, as members often volunteer their time to help the children.

Another initiative helped students was the “Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive.” Backpacks and lunchboxes were among the items needed and collected, but any new school supplies were welcome. All donated items went to students in need.

Items were dropped off at the local Applebee’s. Additionally, there was a night where 10% of all proceeds at the restaurant went to the school.

There was also a flapjack fundraiser where 100% of ticket sales went to students. Members of the Manchester Township High School Girls Soccer Team served as volunteers and worked that event in support of the initiative.

This culminated in a Family Day just before the end of summer that featured games, prizes, and the opportunity to help “Stuff the Bus” with school supplies.

School officials noted that these events serve as a wonderful opportunity for the community to directly support local students and families as they prepare for the upcoming school year. Every donation remained in Manchester and helped students have the supplies they need to succeed.
