Police: Man Wrecked Hospital Equipment

  LAKEWOOD – A man broke several things in a hospital and had to be restrained, according to the State Attorney General’s Office.

  Paul J. Smith, 44, of Lakehurst was charged on April 20 with false public alarm (2nd degree) and criminal mischief (3rd degree). 

  According to the police, Smith pulled a fire alarm at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood.  He also allegedly broke a television, a sink faucet, and an IV pump, causing more than $2,000 in damage. 

  The charges are merely accusations until proven guilty in a court of law.
