Ocean County Man Accused Of Murder Will Remain In Jail

TOMS RIVER – The man accused of murdering a Florida man waived his right to a pretrial detention hearing and will remain behind bars pending trial.

Thomas Hatchett, 86, is charged with murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the death of Igal Hedad, 71, of Fort Lauderdale.

Hedad was found on the street outside Hatchett’s Leisure Village West home last Monday with gunshot wounds in his back, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office reported.

Hatchett, who also owns a home in Verona, New Jersey, was questioned by Ocean County authorities in Verona and arrested.
