WHITING – A garage fire in the Fox Hollow section of town was brought under control, with firefighters preventing flames from spreading into the home and safely rescuing a family pet.

Whiting Fire Company Station 33 crews were dispatched at 6:27 p.m. on December 26 after reports of a fire inside a residential garage. Upon arrival, the first officer on scene confirmed active fire conditions and upgraded the response. Neighbors had already taken quick action using a fire extinguisher, helping slow the fire before firefighters arrived.

All residents were confirmed safely outside the home. Fire command was established shortly after additional chiefs arrived, and crews advanced a 1¾-inch hose line to attack the fire. The blaze was quickly knocked down and confined to the garage, with no extension into the living space.

Firefighters also entered the residence during operations and safely removed a dog, which was unharmed and reunited with its owners. No injuries to residents or emergency personnel were reported.

Multiple units from Station 33 responded, including engines, tankers, command staff, and utility vehicles. Mutual aid was provided by surrounding fire stations, including a rapid intervention team.

Once suppression and overhaul were completed, the scene was turned over to the Manchester Police Department and the Ocean County Fire Marshal for investigation.

Manchester EMS, New Jersey Natural Gas, Jersey Central Power & Light, and the American Red Cross also assisted at the scene.
