Manchester Man Accused Of Stealing Grave Marker Vases

MANCHESTER – Police are looking for a man charged with theft among other charges.

John H. White, 46, with addresses in Manchester, Jackson an Lakewood stole about 500 bronze grave marker vases, although more than 700 have been reported missing from the Whiting Memorial Park.

He is charged with theft, desecration of venerated objects and criminal mischief. He has not been arrested, and police are asking the public to help locate White.

On Feb. 14, Ptl. Thomas Dill took a report that the vases, valued at $175,000, were missing. Det. Craig Beaulieu investigated and found that White sold about 494 vases, or 3,000 pounds of bronze, to two local scrap yards. Police recovered 450 vases.
