MANCHESTER — An early morning house fire displaced two residents in the Roosevelt City section of Manchester Township on February 24, prompting a large emergency response from multiple fire departments across Ocean County.
Police were dispatched to a home on Delaware Avenue at approximately 4:04 a.m. after receiving a report of a structure fire. When officers arrived, they found flames and smoke pouring from the residence.
Authorities quickly confirmed that the occupants had safely evacuated the home and that no pets were inside. Firefighters from several surrounding communities arrived shortly afterward and began working to bring the blaze under control. Crews were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to neighboring houses or nearby vehicles.
Emergency medical personnel treated both residents at the scene for smoke inhalation. However, they declined further medical treatment, officials said.
In addition to the Manchester Township Police Department, responding agencies included the Whiting, Manchester, Ridgeway, New Egypt, Bayville, Pinewald Pioneer, Cassville and Whitesville volunteer fire departments, as well as the Joint Base Fire Department. Manchester EMS, Berkeley EMS, Manchester Office of Emergency Management and the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office also assisted. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced family with temporary housing and essential supplies.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Manchester Township Police Department Investigations Bureau.
