MANCHESTER – The township school district paid tribute to the late Jill Ocone, a beloved English teacher, author, and advocate for journalism, by adding her name to the Hawks Hall of Honor wall during a ceremony held recently at Manchester Township High School.
Ocone, who passed away in July following a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer, was remembered as a gifted educator and mentor whose warmth and positivity touched countless lives. Superintendent Diane Pedroza described her as “a cherished member of the high school faculty and a beloved mentor, colleague, and friend,” adding that Ocone “remained the embodiment of grace, resilience and hope” throughout her illness.
Principal Dennis Adams called Ocone “the love, dedication, and professionalism of a spectacular teacher,” saying her “life, light, and legacy will remain a thread of our high school.” Colleagues echoed those sentiments, recalling her kindness, creativity, and ability to make every student feel seen and valued.

Beyond the classroom, Ocone was known for her love of writing and community service. She was the author of Enduring the Waves, a novel inspired by her travels to Ireland, and helped establish the school’s Wall of Honor recognizing military veterans. Her legacy, staff members said, will continue to inspire students and educators across the district.
