MANCHESTER — A four-vehicle crash at a busy Manchester Township intersection Monday afternoon sent one driver to the hospital and caused significant traffic delays, police said.

Officers were dispatched around 4:30 p.m. on December 15 to the intersection of County Route 571 and Commonwealth Boulevard, where they found four vehicles with varying degrees of damage blocking lanes of travel.

Police said a 2007 Mazda 3 was traveling east on Route 571 with a green traffic signal when a 2020 GMC Acadia attempted a left turn onto Commonwealth Boulevard and failed to yield. The Mazda struck the rear passenger side of the GMC, investigators said.

Following the initial impact, the Mazda spun and collided with a westbound 2026 Honda HR-V, causing front-end damage. The GMC then rotated onto Commonwealth Boulevard and struck a 2023 Kia Telluride, which sustained minor damage, police said.

The Mazda was driven by Taylor Ketchell, 31, of New Egypt, who reported leg pain but declined medical treatment at the scene. The GMC was driven by Lynn Parkhurst, 68, of Manchester, who was not injured.

The Kia was operated by Jackielyn Panganiban, 36, of Manchester, who had a 4-year-old child in the vehicle. No injuries were reported in the Kia, police said.

The Honda was driven by Lori Martinson, 68, of Manchester, who complained of chest, back and leg pain. She was taken to Community Medical Center by Manchester Township Emergency Medical Services with injuries described as not life-threatening.

Assisting at the scene were the Manchester Township Career Fire Department, Manchester Township EMS, Hatzolah and Priced Rite Towing.

Traffic along Route 571 and Commonwealth Boulevard was heavily delayed while the crash was investigated and vehicles were removed.

The investigation remains ongoing, but police said failure to yield while making a left turn appears to be the primary cause. The crash is being investigated by Patrolmen Anthony DeBlasio and Michael O’Hara of the Manchester Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
