LAKEHURST – A Philadelphia man was arrested after police found a loaded handgun, ecstasy pills and marijuana during a traffic stop early July 25, authorities said.

Lakehurst Police Officer Gaige Rebmann stopped a 2016 Nissan SUV on Route 70 around 3 a.m. for a maintenance of lamps violation, police said. The driver, identified as Siheed Woods, 34, was searched after an on-scene investigation.

Officers recovered a Ruger .40-caliber handgun with a high-capacity magazines loaded with hollow-point ammunition, about 50 ecstasy pills and a quantity of marijuana packaged in a manner consistent with distribution, police said.

Woods was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of hollow-point ammunition and possession of a large-capacity magazine. He was processed and released on a summons under bail reform, according to police.

The SUV was seized pending civil forfeiture proceedings, and further charges may be filed. Officer Sean Phillips assisted at the scene.

Police reminded the public that all charges are accusations and that Woods is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Suspicious activity can be reported anonymously through the department’s website at www.lakehurstpolice.org.
