JACKSON – An Ocean County Sheriff’s Department officer was bitten twice by a woman during a disturbance at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Sunday, officials said.

Synthea Gonzalez, 50, was charged with resisting arrest, aggravated assault on a police officer, obstruction and refusal to submit to fingerprinting following the incident.

According to authorities, Gonzalez and a group of friends were being thrown out of Hurricane Harbor. Ocean County sheriff’s officers arrived to assist Jackson police after receiving a report of a disturbance in the park around 6:30 p.m.

While Jackson police were arresting one member of the group, Gonzalez was being held back by sheriff’s officers when she turned and bit a sheriff’s officer twice. As a result, she was arrested.

The sheriff’s office said the officer was taken to the hospital to have his injuries treated, and later returned to work.
