Suspected Murderer Arrested And Charged For Drugs

  JACKSON – After receiving key information, police arrested a suspect who is wanted for a murder charge out of Philadelphia.

  The Special Enforcement Unit received a tip that a murder suspect was at the Prospect Pointe Apartments located on South New Prospect Road. Detectives found the suspect’s vehicle in the complex’s parking lot and later found the suspect driving the vehicle to the Quick Chek located on South New Prospect Road. Detectives then stopped the vehicle in the parking lot and took the suspect into custody without incident.

  The suspect, identified as Edwin Martinez, 35, of Philadelphia, was arrested and lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

  Afterwards, an investigation led to the suspect’s vehicle being searched. Inside the vehicle detectives found five ounces of heroin, over five ounces of cocaine and five ounces of marijuana.

  Martinez was then charged with 1st degree possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, 1st degree possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and 3rd degree possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
