JACKSON – Police have confirmed that no firearm was present at a Jackson Township High School pep rally after an overheard statement raised concerns among students.
According to the Jackson Township Police Department, students sitting in one section of the bleachers heard someone claim that a student had a gun on September 18.
A school resource officer who was nearby immediately investigated the report with assistance from school administrators and district security personnel. Authorities determined that no weapon was involved and said students were never in danger.
The department thanked school officials and security staff for their swift cooperation. Police also encouraged families to rely on information released through official law enforcement and school district channels.
The high school’s football game will take place as scheduled.
