OCEAN COUNTY – A Jackson man was arrested on a series of firearms and weapons charges following a traffic stop on June 10, authorities said.
According to the Jackson Township Police Department, detectives from the Special Enforcement Unit pulled over a vehicle operated by Adam Williams around 4:30 p.m. for being unregistered. During the stop, investigators discovered that Williams was allegedly in possession of multiple firearms.
A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun in a waistband-style holster located between the driver’s seat and the center console. Police also recovered a Smith & Wesson AR-15 style rifle, classified as an assault weapon under New Jersey law, and a Ruger .45 caliber handgun. Several high-capacity magazines were also found in the vehicle.
Williams was taken into custody and charged with multiple weapons offenses, including two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second-degree possession of an assault firearm, third-degree unlawful possession of a rifle, and third-degree unlawful use of body armor. Additional charges included possession of hollow-point ammunition, high-capacity magazines, and weapons for an unlawful purpose.
He was also issued numerous motor vehicle summonses, including driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a suspended license, lack of insurance, and having open containers of cannabis and alcohol in the car.
Williams was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he remains pending a detention hearing.
