JACKSON – A crash involving a motorcycle and a flatbed tow truck has left one dead and one injured, police said.
The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday in Jackson. The motorcyclist, 53-year-old Erin Doyle of New Egypt, died at the scene of the crash, Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz said.
Doyle and his wife were riding a 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Hawkin Road when they were hit by a 1997 Ford F-350 flatbed tow truck that was making a left turn into a driveway, Kunz said.
Doyle’s wife, 47, was flown to a local trauma center for treatment of a serious leg injury. The tow truck driver was not injured in the crash, Kunz said.
The crash is under investigation by Jackson police and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department. Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact Jackson Police Officer Tristan Bennett at 732-928-1111 ext. 2406.
