Man Arrested Who Attacked Family Member And Police

JACKSON – A 21-year-old man has been arrested for Aggravated Assault after he physically attacked a family member and later assaulted an officer.

  On March 6, the Jackson Township Police Department responded to a call that a 21-year-old male resident acting strange with the possibility of being under the influence of an unknown substance.

  According to police, the incident quickly progressed when the suspect struck a male family member and tackled him to the ground, attempting to stop him from calling the police. During the attack, the suspect also bit the man on the arm. The assault continued inside the residence where the victim suffered an injury to his hip.

  Police arrived and arrested the suspect while the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

  Police stated that after transporting the suspect to police headquarters, he still was acting erratically. After detectives interviewed the suspect, he was escorted back to his cell block where he attempted to run away. As officers were trying to stop him, the suspect began flailing and striking at the officers and also attempted to bite one. 

  According to police, the suspect even attempted to spit blood at them from an injury he had sustained. The suspect also made threats that he was going to defecate on them as officers then observed that he began doing so.

  After police controlled the suspect, he was transferred to a hospital for treatment for injuries and evaluation. An officer was also transported to a hospital for an injury sustained in this incident.

  The suspect was charged with Simple Assault, Aggravated Assault, Escape and Resisting Arrest. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
