JACKSON – Township police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a motorcyclist who refused to stop for an officer and nearly struck him while fleeing the scene late last month.
The incident occurred August 27 around 11:34 a.m. on Frank Applegate Road, where Officer Colangelo was conducting a traffic detail in response to speeding complaints. Police said the officer, wearing a reflective traffic vest and helmet while operating a marked police motorcycle, observed a motorcycle traveling 52 mph in a 40 mph zone.
Colangelo signaled the driver to pull over, but police said the rider shook his head “no,” revved the engine, swerved toward the officer and then sped away at a high rate of speed, narrowly missing him. The officer did not pursue.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a blue helmet, sleeveless shirt and carrying a black backpack. He has tattoos on both arms and was riding a blue 2018–2020 Yamaha MT-07 motorcycle with a loud exhaust and a small black or gray fairing, investigators said.
Police have released video of the incident and enhanced images of the tattoos in hopes of identifying the rider.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Colangelo at wcolangelo@jacksontwpnj.net or call the Jackson Police Department at 732-928-1111. Anonymous tips are welcome.
