TOMS RIVER – A Jackson Township man accused in the fatal shooting of a township resident earlier this month will remain in jail while awaiting trial, authorities said.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on September 18, Shaquille Green, 29, agreed to remain detained in the Ocean County Jail. He is charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the death of 28-year-old Toraya Reid of Jackson on September 6.

The decision was made before Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels, who is temporarily assigned on recall. The hearing was handled by Assistant Prosecutor Gregory Lenzi.

Prosecutors emphasized that the charges are accusations, and Green is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
