JACKSON – An 81-year-old driving a motorized scooter across Jackson Mills Road at night was struck and killed by a Ford F-150, police said.

The crash took place on April 11 at around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection with Harmony Road.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was a 64-year-old man. Police have not released the identity of either.

Officers said that driver impairment does not seem to be a factor at this time. The area was dimly lit, and the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing. The scooter had reflective stickers but was not equipped with functioning lights.
