HOWELL – A reckless motorcyclist attempted to escape police and resulted in a vehicle accident.
While patrolling on Rt. 9 near Aldrich Road West, police witnessed an individual on a motorcycle driving recklessly. Police attempted to stop the motorcyclist, but the driver continued to head southbound at a high speed.
To avoid slowing down for traffic, the motorcyclist tried to exit Rt. 9 by taking the Lanes Mills Road jug handle. This led to the subject running into the side of a patrol car. The motorcyclist then attempted to run away but was immediately seized and arrested.
Joseph Sica, a 35-year-old Jackson resident, was charged criminally with eluding and criminal mischief. It was also found that he was operating with a suspended driver’s license. Multiple motor vehicle summonses were issued as well.
After processing, Sica was released and transported to the hospital for minor injuries resulting from the crash.
