HOWELL — Township police are searching for a man who allegedly attacked a woman walking with her toddler on Pinewood Road near Cecilia Court on November 17, according to information released by the authorities.

Investigators said the woman was pushing her 2-year-old child in a stroller when a man came up from behind, put her in what authorities described as a chokehold, and threw her to the ground. The attacker ran away when the victim screamed for help.

Police said the suspect is a thin Black male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a dark jacket with lighter-colored stripes on the sleeves, dark pants, and white athletic sneakers. He had reportedly been spotted earlier in the day on Pinewood Road, Cecilia Court, Violet Circle, and Poppy Lane.

A photo released by police — taken from a nearby dash camera around the time of the incident — shows a man walking on a sidewalk wearing a tan hood, a dark jacket with striped sleeves, dark pants, and white sneakers. Authorities believe he is the same individual connected to the assault.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with security footage, dash-camera video, or information is asked to contact the Howell Township Police Department at 732-938-4111 ext. 2677 or email RJackson@HowellPolice.org.

Police urge residents to call 911 immediately if they see the individual or notice suspicious activity.
