Weapon Brought To Shore Area School, Student Arrested

LAKEWOOD – A 14-year-old Lakewood Middle School student was taken into custody without incident Monday morning after bringing a weapon to school, police said.

Lt. LeRoy Marshall told Jersey Shore Online the student brought a box cutter, which was found inside the student’s backpack. Police were alerted and the school put on lockdown based on those reports.

When police arrived around 9:30 a.m., the student in question was located by school staff and escorted to the main office. He was questioned and taken into police custody.

No one was injured.

Marshall said the investigation is ongoing and charges will follow.
