BRICK — Now there’s something you don’t see every day. Holiday shoppers at the Marshalls in Brick Commons got far more excitement than expected when a white-tailed deer made an unexpected dash through the store.
A shopper captured video of the deer weaving through displays before a woman calmly stepped in, guiding the animal toward the automatic doors and back outside near the small wooded patch behind the shopping center at Route 70 and Chambers Bridge Road. The clip, posted to TikTok by user @latinowithabuzzcut, racked up millions of views within days.
In the video, customers can be heard reacting with a mix of disbelief and nerves as the woman positions herself between the deer and the merchandise, ushering it toward the exit. Viewers on social media were quick to praise her quick thinking.
“She deserves an award for keeping that deer — and everyone else — safe,” one commenter wrote. Another noted, “Imagine if it panicked and jumped through a window.”
@latinowithabuzzcut This has to be one of the most funniest things I have witnessed #fypシ #xyzbca #random #deer #marshalls ♬ original sound – David • Friends
Others took the moment in stride with lighthearted jokes about the animal browsing for bargains or scouting for Santa. Still, some viewers pointed out how stressful the situation likely was for the deer.
It remains unclear how long the animal had been inside before help arrived. Shoppers speculated the deer may have wandered in through the store’s motion-activated doors.
A manager at the Brick Marshalls said he could not discuss the incident and referred questions to the company’s corporate office.
In an email to Jersey Shore Online, Andrew Mastrangelo of AVP Global Communications confirmed the deer entered and safely exited the store. The video was not AI.
The deer’s condition after leaving the store is unknown but he was seen running through the parking lot back to a wooded area.
