Two Arrested In HVAC Thefts

BRICK – Two men were arrested after police departments in Berkeley, Ocean Gate, Lacey and Brick investigated a rash of burglaries in Berkeley and Lacey.

Robert Camp, 52 ,and William Camp, 32, both from Brick, were arrested at their shared Linden Avenue home recently.

Both men were charged with two counts of theft by unlawful taking and two counts of criminal trespass.

William Camp was additionally charged with possession of a hypodermic needle.

Robert Camp was taken to Ocean County Jail. William Camp was released on summons. Police said additional charges will likely be filed as evidence is processed.

In June, heating and cooling businesses along Route 9 in Berkeley and Lacey townships had HVAC and air conditioning units stolen. Video footage captured a late-model Dodge pick-up truck with “unique” markings and two men taking the stolen items.

Authorities obtained search warrants and found evidence from the thefts at the Camp home. Their Dodge Ram was also seized as part of the investigation. Police also found several illegal handguns and a small quantity of heroin.
