Student Brings Loaded Gun On School Bus In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD – Police are investigating an incident where a Lakewood student brought a loaded gun onto a school bus heading to Oak Street School this morning, according to police.

Officials said that the school security team was informed of the student by another arriving child.

The suspect is a 9-year old student who was in possession of a loaded gun on a bus, reportedly threatening to shoot another student. The student was quickly apprehended by school security.

The firearm was reportedly a 22 caliber handgun that was found in the student’s backpack, Lt. Gregory Staffordsmith stated.

Oak Street School officials did not respond to comment as of print time.

The Lakewood Police Department’s Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.
