Serious Two Vehicle Crash Injures Four In Brick

BRICK – An accident on Herbertsville Road in the township Saturday injured a total of four people and caused a detour for several hours.

Brick Township Police said the crash involving a red Chrysler 200 and a white Ford Explorer happened around 2 p.m. on Herbertsville between Sally Ike and Thiele Roads. They believe inattentive driving attributed to the collision.

The identities of the victims involved have not been released. The Chrysler had been heading south on Herbertsville Road when it attempted to turn left into a driveway. In doing so, the car smashed into the Explorer which had the right of way and was heading north.

The injuries range from minor to severe. A woman passenger in the Chrysler was seriously injured and taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. The driver of that vehicle suffered injuries to her chest, knee and foot and was also sent to the trauma center.

Both the male driver and female passenger of the Explorer were taken to Ocean Medical Center in Brick with injuries ranging from chest, back and side pain.
