BRICK – A Howell man was arrested in the early hours of September 11 by Brick Police following an attempted robbery at the 7-Eleven located at 1151 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick.

Brick Police responded to the 7-Eleven at approximately 2:32 a.m. Officers secured a perimeter around the area and searched for the suspect, described as a 25-30 year old while male with dark hair and a thick beard, wearing all black clothing.

The suspect has been identified as 31-year old Martin Kirsch of Howell.

The manager of the 7-Eleven explained that Kirsch came into the store demanding money. When the employees refused, Kirsch reportedly grabbed an employee by the shirt, screaming for the money, then went outside and engaged in an altercation with another employee who was calling for police assistance.

Kirsch ran off, heading towards the Gulf gas station across the street. A subsequent search of the area around the gas station located Kirsch, and he was placed into custody by Ptl. Bennett.

Police confirmed the events inside the 7-Eleven occurred with security footage and reported that both employees noticed Kirsch in the store two hours before the incident.

Both victims sustained no injuries and declined medical attention.

Kirsch has been processed and charged with second degree robbery and is now lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
