BRICK – A Brick Township resident faces a slew of charges after she crashed her vehicle while intoxicated, into a police car, injuring an officer.

Brick Police said the incident happened in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 8th.

Officer Nicole Borden was helping other officers with a motor vehicle accident investigation on Route 70 westbound near Burnt Tavern Road. Her police cruiser lights were on while parked in the shoulder.

Officer Borden just got back into her vehicle when a white Mazda 3, driven by 46 year old Tamara Bailey, failed to move over to the adjacent lane of travel and crashed into the police cruiser.

Officer Borden was transported to Ocean Medical Center and later released.

Bailey was arrested and charged with DUI, Assault by Auto, DUI Refusal, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Move Over Law. Bailey was transported to the Ocean County Jail.

The accident comes days after many Ocean County law enforcement agencies reminded everyone to observe the Move Over Law.

Recently, several Manchester officers were injured during a routine traffic stop.

Brick Police remind drivers to slow down and move over when they see stopped emergency and service vehicles on the side of the road.
