BRICK – Motorists can expect construction to begin on the Mantoloking Road paving project tomorrow, September 25, at 9 a.m.

A recent meeting between Brick Township Police Chief James Riccio, Brick Police Traffic Safety Unit, Township Business Administrator Joanne Bergin, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, and the Ocean County Road Department decided on various updates to the project.

On Sept. 25, the milling portion of the project will begin and continue until 5 p.m., and through Wednesday and Thursday if necessary.

During this time, Mantoloking Road will remain open with an alternating traffic pattern in place in the westbound lane, according to Brick Police.

“For a short period of time Hooper Avenue turn lanes and Cedar Bridge Ave through lanes for Mantoloking Road will be diverted as the project begins. School buses will be permitted to enter neighborhoods,” stated police.

Following milling, paving will begin on October 1, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic patterns will change accordingly.

Police urge motorists to avoid Mantoloking Road during construction use alternate routes until the project is complete, which is expected to be October 3 or 4, weather permitting.

“We ask that residents use caution, be patient and if a flagger asks you to stop, please obey their commands. The Brick Township Police and Ocean County Sheriff’s Department will be monitoring the construction zone for traffic issues,” stated police.
