BRICK – A Freehold man was arrested and charged with burglary and other offenses after officers were patrolling the Walmart parking lot Oct. 4.
James Bellas, 29, was charged with burglary, theft, shoplifting, possession of CDS, possession of paraphernalia, possession of fireworks, and issued a summons for CDS in a motor vehicle.
Bellas allegedly shoplifted items from the Wal-Mart on Route 88 in Brick, as well as stole items from an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot.
Brick Township Police officers observed Bellas “looking nervous” after he took a black bag from an unlocked vehicle and ran toward the Route 88 side of Walmart. He entered the Toyota, where police found him looking through bags.
Police were quickly able to locate the owner of the unlocked vehicle to return the property, and also recovered about $34.40 worth of items stolen from the store.
Bellas was placed under arrest without incident and processed at police headquarters. He was then taken to Ocean County Jail.
