Elderly Couple Bound & Beaten In Lakewood Robbery

UPDATED STORY – THURSDAY, AUGUST 30TH

LAKEWOOD – Police are investigating a robbery and home invasion that occurred on Eagle Ridge Circle early this morning.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 2:30 a.m. after reports of a possible robbery in the home of an elderly couple. A report by The Lakewood Scoop stated that the couple was allegedly beaten with a flashlight and bound with duct tape by the intruder.

Once on the scene, police discovered the man injured and in the garage and the woman injured, inside the home.

Information on the intruder’s identity is not yet available; however police reported that the suspect fled the couple’s Lakewood home in their vehicle.

According to officials, the couple sustained serious injuries during the incident. They were both transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment.

“At this time the investigation is active and more information will follow as it becomes available,” stated Lt. Gregory Staffordsmith.
