Cops In Shops Busts Five Would-Be Underage Drinkers

BRICK – Brick Township Police made six arrests over Memorial Day weekend during their Cops in Shops campaign.

On May 24, police arrested a 20-year-old male and 63-year-old female after the woman attempted to purchase alcohol for the man.

On May 25, two 19-year-old females and two juveniles were arrested for underage possession of alcoholic beverages after they attempted to purchase alcohol. The one 19-year-old presented a fake identification when she attempted to make the purchase.

The legal drinking age and age to purchase alcohol in New Jersey is 21.

Cops in Shops is a grant-funded program through the Division of Highway Safety that enables police to be in local liquor stores to crack down on underage drinking.
