BRICK – A man accused of stabbing someone in the back has been charged with attempted murder and has not yet been apprehended.
Police said Michael Stallworth, 37, of Seaside Heights, stabbed another man in the parking lot of the Brick ShopRite on July 26 at around 4 p.m. He faces charges of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Police said Stallworth is a fugitive from justice.
“Stallworth is encouraged to turn himself in; a warrant has been issued for his arrest and his name has been entered in the National Crime Information Center database,” Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Brick Township Chief of Police James Riccio said. “Anyone with information concerning Stallworth’s whereabouts – or any information at all regarding this investigation – is urged to contact Detective Lindsay Woodfield of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027, extension 3989, or Detective Michael Bennett of the Brick Township Police Department at 732-262-1122.”
Meanwhile, Kareem Reeves, 32, of Lakewood was charged with Hindering Stallworth’s apprehension by moving the suspect’s vehicle from the parking lot. He was arrested and is pending a detention hearing.
The 44-year-old victim is in stable, yet critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, police said.
Prosecutor Billhimer and Chief Riccio acknowledged the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, Brick Township Police Department Detective Bureau and Patrol Division, Lakewood Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, for their collaborative efforts in connection with this investigation.
Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
