BRICK — Township police have rolled out a new patrol vehicle designed to highlight the department’s support for residents on the autism spectrum and their families.
The Autism Awareness Vehicle, now part of the Brick Police fleet, is intended to serve as a public reminder of the agency’s commitment to understanding, inclusion, and compassionate service. Officials said Brick is home to many individuals with autism, each with distinct strengths and challenges, and the department wants to ensure all residents feel safe and supported.
Police said officers continue to receive specialized training to improve communication and response during encounters involving people with autism. The department also works closely with families, educators, and service organizations to strengthen trust and awareness throughout the community.

The newly branded vehicle will appear at community events, outreach programs, and during patrols. Department leaders said they hope it reinforces that support for individuals with autism is ongoing and visible.
“To all those living with autism in Brick, and to the families who stand by them — we see you, we respect you, and we are here for you,” the department said in its announcement.
